Documents Required to Study in China: Autumn 2027
Planning to study in China in Autumn 2027? Here is a complete checklist of required documents, language certificates, deadlines and preparation steps.
What documents do you need to study in China in Autumn 2027?
Planning to study in China involves more than choosing a university and submitting an application. Preparing the correct documents is an important part of the admission process, and starting early can help you avoid unnecessary delays.
If you are planning to begin your studies in China in Autumn 2027, it is worth organizing your documents in advance. Some documents can be prepared early, while others, particularly medical examination and criminal record certificates, should only be obtained closer to the application or submission period.
At OneStop Education, we help students from Uzbekistan and Central Asia prepare their application documents and understand what is required at each stage.
Below is the document checklist for students planning to study in China in Autumn 2027.
1. Personal documents
Start by preparing the basic identification documents:
- International passport: It should remain valid for at least six months after September 2027.
- Passport-sized photograph (3×4): Make sure the photograph is of good quality.
- National ID card: Prepare a copy of your ID card.
- Parent's passport or ID: A copy of one parent's identification document is required.
Check your passport's expiration date early. If it does not meet the validity requirement, you will need to arrange a replacement before proceeding with your application.
2. Educational documents
Your previous education must be documented as part of your university application.
The main requirement is your secondary school certificate (attestat) and academic grades.
If you have already graduated, prepare your completed certificate and grades.
If you are still studying and have not graduated, you can provide a school confirmation letter instead. This document should include:
- Your expected graduation month and year.
- Your academic grades obtained so far.
This allows students who are still completing their final year of school to begin preparing their applications without waiting for the final certificate.
3. Language certificates and the CSCA result
Depending on the programme and its admission requirements, you may need to demonstrate your language proficiency.
The checklist specifies one of the following:
- IELTS 5.5 or higher.
- HSK Level 4 with a score of 200 or higher.
The relevant language certificate should have at least six months of validity remaining.
Another important item is the CSCA result. Students are advised to take the CSCA examination and submit their results as early as possible.
According to the checklist, the CSCA result is not necessarily a mandatory document at the time of application, but students should aim to obtain it promptly.
4. Application documents
In addition to your personal and educational documents, you will need to prepare several documents explaining your academic background and motivation.
These include:
- Two recommendation letters: Both letters should have the appropriate signature and official stamp. OneStop Education helps prepare the text of these letters.
- Motivation letter: You write the initial draft, and our team helps finalize it.
- One-minute introduction video: The video should be recorded in either English or Chinese. We provide a sample and the script to help you prepare.
These documents give universities additional information about your background, goals and motivation for studying in China.
It is worth giving them proper attention rather than preparing everything at the last minute.
5. Documents that should be obtained closer to submission
Two documents have particularly important timing requirements:
- Criminal record certificate.
- Medical examination certificate.
Both should be issued within the one month immediately before submission.
This is why it is better not to obtain them too early. Even if the rest of your application is ready, these documents should be arranged closer to the final submission stage.
The order of preparation matters: collect the other documents first and leave these two until the end.
6. What does OneStop Education help prepare?
Not every document needs to be arranged independently by the student.
OneStop Education helps with the preparation of several additional documents and administrative procedures, including:
- Document translation.
- Notarization.
- Apostille.
- Medical examination certificate.
- Bank statement or bank confirmation.
- Guardianship letter for students under 18.
There is one important exception concerning guardianship letters: some universities in certain cities do not require them.
The exact requirements should therefore be considered according to the university and its location.
7. Document formats and additional recommendations
An important point for applicants is that you do not necessarily need to provide original paper documents at the initial preparation stage.
Photographs or scanned copies of documents are sufficient for the document-checking process.
The electronic criminal record certificate with a QR code is also accepted.
In addition to the main requirements, there are some documents worth preparing if you have them:
- Academic achievement certificates.
- Awards and competition certificates.
- Volunteer activity certificates.
These additional documents can strengthen your application and improve your chances.
8. When should you start preparing?
For students planning to enter a Chinese university in Autumn 2027, the most practical approach is to divide the preparation into stages.
First, check your passport, identification documents and educational records. Then work on your language certificate and CSCA result.
After that, prepare your recommendation letters, motivation letter and introduction video.
Finally, arrange your criminal record and medical examination certificates within the required one-month period before submission.
Keeping your documents organized from the beginning will make the application process easier to manage.
